Behavioural Economics

Hello there, and welcome to my website. My name is Paul Craven. I am fascinated by decision making, investment and psychology (not forgetting happiness, history, humans and humour). After 27 years working for three amazing firms – Schroders, PIMCO and Goldman Sachs – I decided in 2014, aged 50, to do my own thing and launch Paul Craven Partners Ltd. in order to promote Behavioural Economics in business. Some call it Behavioural Science or Behavioural Finance.

(And if you are from the US, you of course leave out the ‘u’ and spell it ‘ Behavioral’, which is exactly how we British used to spell it until the nineteenth century. But I digress….)

How can I help you?

What’s my objective? I believe that understanding the principles of Behavioural Economics provides valuable insights and a strong competitive advantage to those firms and individuals who embrace it, whether in executive decision-making, investment, sales, marketing or in society at large.

If you are curious to learn more, let me know if I can help you. Maybe we can help each other? Please have a look around the website which highlights some of the things I offer that might be of interest – including coachingconsulting and public speaking. There’s some fun stuff dotted around as well, alongside lots of book recommendations and links to relevant twitter feeds and websites.

Oh, and I also love performing psychological magic, but that’s another story. Come to think of it, it’s part of the same story – how the human brain does, and doesn’t always, work. It was therefore a privilege to be asked to do a TEDx talk on the subject.

If you want to find out what I have been doing previously for over a quarter of a century, please look at my  business biography (and I have been lucky enough to have always loved my work) and read about some of my interests including magic. It all ends up together, around the back of the circle.

Thank you for visiting my pages. I hope our paths cross, sooner rather than later.

Paul
